The pound US dollar exchange rate fell to its lowest since March 2017 this morning, leaving the pairing trading around $1.216 as the EU still shows no signs of renegotiating the withdrawal agreement. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is also refusing to meet EU leaders unless they agree to remove the Irish backstop from the agreement – a condition that continues to be rejected by the EU.
