THE POUND is on a steady footing as the stock markets opened with a bang today. The FTSE 100 has opened 0.9 percent higher at 7,157 points, almost erasing Friday's 1.1 percent decline. Germany’s Dax also added 1 percent and France’s Cac climbed 0.9 percent at open.
